I am sick at heart, sick to my stomach and sick to death of my fellow man.

According to CNN, exit polls are showing that the race went Bush's way in large part because of "values." Because of fucking none-of-your-business-but-who-cares-about-that MORALS!

Thank you, all you fucking Gladys Kravitzes of the world who think that what other people do with their bodies and their genitalia of their own free will is more important than the fact that our government wants to rape our environment, destroy our civil rights and send America's children off to die in a war based on lies.

Apparently tiny lumps of tissue who have never had a moment's consciousness nor seen the light of day are FAR more important that the lives of flesh and blood soldiers, those barely-adult children who ARE wanted and loved and worried over and mourned by their parents.

THAT's morality?

Apparently, we really are a Christian nation now. God help us.

Of course, there are those who voted Republican less out of moral outrage than out of fear, desperately clinging to the hope that our strong-on-terror president will keep their families safe from terrorists by feeding them a steady diet of OTHER people's children in a land far, far away from here.

It must feel good to be all patriotic and shit, supporting (the slaughter of) our troops, because I guess when they are all volunteers it doesn't matter if their lives are wasted and their bodies maimed in a pointless war. So are you encouraging YOUR kids to volunteer for such a noble cause?

Well, don't worry your pretty little head about that, because unless there is a drastic change in our foreign policy you can just about bet on a draft. We've decimated our military in Iraq, and now we've got REAL potential threats brewing in North Korea and Iran. When those situations come to a head, where do you suppose we're going to get the manpower to deal with it? From the other countries of the world who hate our government and are stunned and disgusted at the stupidity of a people who would willingly vote it back into power? From what I'm hearing they are perfectly willing to let us lie in the burning bed we made all by ourselves.

Or are you not worried because you think YOUR kids are going to get a pass on the draft because of age, sex or college status? Or maybe you think you've got it all figured out how you're going to send them to Canada for a while? If the draft comes back there is absolutely NO guarantee that they'll be playing by the old rules, and there have already been proposals of mandatory service for all young people, of drafting women as well as men, of granting college deferrments only to the end of the current semester, of raising the draftable age as high as 35, and of border policing agreements with Canada to crack down on dodging.

Feel safer now? I don't. Of course, I'm sure you don't think it will actually come to that, and I hope to hell you are right. Better get to PRAYING you are right, huh?
